Biscoe + Stanton Architects has designed a new residential development on the former grounds of Hendon football club. The site is situated on a busy public road with a well established residential area on one side and the open expanse of the Clitterhouse Playing Fields on the other. The design therefore had to provide a transition between small scale suburban streetscape on one side and large scale open spaces on the other. It also had to acknowledge the Brent Cross Cricklewood Masterplan, which is a proposed major redevelopment of Brent Cross to the north of the site.

The design was developed with Fairview in consultation with the local authority planners through a pre-Application and public consultation process. The final design creates a new 2 & 3 storey street frontage to the road, and an internal streetscape reflecting the suburban grain of the surrounding residential area.

The buildings are designed using traditional forms and materials which enable the scheme to sit comfortably within its context, whilst contemporary detailing, including full height window openings, projecting grey clad oriel windows and projecting brick courses, creates a modern vernacular and gives the scheme its own individual identity.

Planning consent was granted in Nov 2014.
