Who we are:

Biscoe + Stanton Architects (BSA) was formed in 1977 and is a partnership, owned and managed by the working partners. Our core service is as an architectural practice offering a full architectural service primarily in the residential, commercial and retail sectors. Our work encompasses new build and refurbishment, and also the restoration of historic buildings. 

We are based in central London and work in most London Boroughs, the Home Counties and throughout the south of England.

What we do:

BSA combines commercial awareness, a high level of design skill, and experience in design and planning spanning nearly 40 years of practice. Our approach is to treat each site as unique and to apply this skill + knowledge to produce the right solution for that site, be it in the countryside, edge of town or urban centre. We produce feasibility studies to establish the scope of potential development for a site, and then work with clients, planners and the consultant team to design a scheme that fulfils their aspirations for the site. Our designs respond to the character of the locale and provide each scheme with its own sense of place.

Our projects range from individual one-off projects to large scale mixed use developments. Our skills and resources enable us to tackle everything from small bespoke projects to complete urban developments equally successfully.

BSA places as much importance on being able to deliver the finished product as on its initial design. An in depth knowledge of a broad range of construction methods gained over years of experience enables us to produce comprehensive construction information for each project in house. Our planning designs are developed thoroughly, through a rigorous process of construction detailing, to ensure that they can be built as intended.

BSA therefore provides a full architectural service, tailored to the housing industry, to take projects through all stages of the design and construction process from inception to completion.

How we work:

Every project is directly managed by one of the Partners, working with a team of experienced architects and technologists to realise the project. Every project goes through a constant process of checks, with reviews at key RIBA stages and at critical points in the programme. Design and Construction Risk assessments are provided as part of the process and are updated in accordance with the developing design.  

The Planning Design and Construction Information stages are discrete processes but are used to inform each other so that there is a constant learning process to inform each project.

We use Microstation CAD software to provide 2D information, with Sketchup for 3D visualisations, and work regularly with project databases and information sharing protocols. CGI’s for presentation purposes are outsourced and co-ordinated into the process.

 We operate an ISO 9001 Quality Management System and are SafeContractor accredited. BSA is therefore able to offer highly skilled and efficient Planning Design and Construction Information services.
